Honest conversations, held with warmth, working toward understanding — together.

I work with individuals navigating life stressors and transitions — often people who look outwardly steady while, underneath, they're struggling. My style is direct, warm, and collaborative, with room for humor when it helps.

About

Rebecca Schwartz, PsyD
Rebecca Schwartz, PsyD

I have extensive experience working with students and career professionals managing anxiety, academic pressure, performance stress, identity concerns, and relationship challenges. Many clients appear outwardly steady while internally struggling — caught in patterns that no longer serve them.

These patterns are often rooted in past experiences or relationships that continue to shape how we see ourselves and relate to others. My job isn't just to help you notice them — it's to help you understand where they came from, so the changes you make actually hold.

My style is direct, warm, and collaborative. I also believe humor can have an important place in therapy, used thoughtfully.

My approach

I practice insight-oriented, integrative therapy — tailoring the method to what's actually useful for you, rather than sticking to a single framework.

Psychodynamic

Understanding how past experiences and relationships continue to shape present-day beliefs, emotions, and behavior.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Identifying and shifting thought patterns that keep anxiety, low mood, or self-criticism in place.

Acceptance & Commitment (ACT)

Building psychological flexibility and taking action aligned with what actually matters to you.

Mindfulness-based

Developing emotional regulation and present-moment awareness, especially useful under pressure.

Who I work with

People often reach out during a transition — a school pressure point, a career demand, a relationship shifting, a diagnosis, or a moment when old wounds start to feel present again. I see teens and adults.

Frequently asked questions

What happens in a first session? +

We'll get a clear picture of what's bringing you to therapy right now, along with some background on your history and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. There's no pressure to have everything figured out — we'll build the plan together.

How long does therapy usually take? +

It depends on what you're working on. Some clients find relief from a specific stressor in a matter of weeks; others working through longer-standing patterns stay in therapy for months or longer. We'll check in regularly and adjust as needed.

Do you offer in-person or online sessions? +

Both. I see clients in-person in South Miami, FL, and offer teletherapy for clients throughout Florida, New York, North Carolina, and other PSYPACT states.

Do you accept insurance? +

I accept certain Aetna plans. For all other clients, I'm out-of-network, and a superbill can be provided so you may seek reimbursement from your insurance company.

Are we a good fit? +

A free 15-minute phone consultation is available before your first session, so we can make sure it feels like a good fit.

What issues do you work with? +

A broad range, including anxiety, mood disorders, women's issues, life transitions, burnout, relationship and family conflict, grief, and trauma. If you're not sure whether your concern fits, feel free to ask during your consultation.

What's your therapeutic approach? +

An integrative approach — combining psychodynamic, CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based methods — tailored to what's most useful for you.

Do you work with teens as well as adults? +

Yes, I see both teens and adults.

How do I get started? +
